GREYHOUND RACE TRACK TOTALISATOR SUPER (DUAL) TRIO JACKPOT REGULATIONS 1997

BORD NA gCON, in exercise of the powers conferred on it, by subsection (3) of Section 40 and by subsection (3) of Section 5 of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 , (No. 12 of 1958), hereby makes the following regulations which shall constitute the terms of contract on which bets may be made and accepted on the Super (Dual) Trio Jackpot Totalisator Pool, that is to say:—

1 Definitions

1. In these Regulations—

( a ) "Super (Dual) Trio Jackpot Pool" means a pool for nominating the winning greyhound, the second greyhound and the third greyhound in the correct order of finish in two selected races.

( b ) "Combination" means a bet in the Super (Dual) Trio Jackpot Pool in which the person making the bet nominates the numbers of selected greyhounds in the manner required for the pool.

( c ) "Winning Combination" means the nomination of the winning greyhound, the second greyhound and the third greyhound in correct order of finish in each of the selected races in the pool.

2 Number of runner

2. The Super (Dual) Trio Jackpot Pool shall be held only in races in which there are at least four advertised runners.

3 Valid tickets,

3. Tickets purchased in respect of selections made are valid only for that meeting and except as provided in article 14 of these regulations no refund of the purchase price or any part thereof shall be made.

4 Tickets lost or mislaid

4. The operator, his officers or servants shall not be liable, if for any reason whatever, a jackpot ticket is lost, or mislaid.

5 Dead Heat

5. (1) In the event of a dead heat for first place in a selected race then the tickets bearing the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds coupled with the third placed greyhound shall be deemed winning combinations for that selected race.

(2) In the event of a dead heat for second place in a race then the tickets bearing the number of the first placed greyhound coupled with the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds shall be deemed winning combinations for that selected race.

(3) In the event of a dead heat for third place in a race then the tickets bearing the numbers of the first and second placed greyhounds in correct order of finish coupled with the numbers of such dead heating greyhounds shall be deemed winning combinations for that selected race.

6 No unit on winning combination or combinations

6. If after the completion of the selected races in the pool, there are no winning units on the winning combination or combinations then the operator may, at his discretion carry forward the net pool either in whole or in such parts as the operator may determine to the net pool in a subsequent Super (Dual) Trio pool at the same or another greyhound track.

7 Calculation of dividend

7. The dividend shall be calculated by dividing the net pool by the total number of units on the winning combination or combinations of the selected races.

8 Payment of Dividends

8. Dividends shall be payable on the presentation of the appropriate winning ticket or tickets whole and not unreasonably defaced or unrecognisable.

9 Withdrawn greyhounds

9. ( a ) If a greyhound is withdrawn from any of the selected races then the withdrawn greyhound shall be disregarded on all combinations which include the withdrawn greyhound in that race and the remaining two selected greyhounds shall be deemed a winning combination in the event of finishing first and second in the correct order of finish in that selected race.

( b ) If more than one greyhound is withdrawn from any of the selected races, and there are four remaining runners, then the withdrawn greyhounds in that race shall be disregarded on all the relevant combinations and the remaining greyhound selected in such combinations shall be deemed a winning combination in the event of finishing first in that selected race.

10 Race not run or declared a "no race"

10. If one of the two selected races in the Super (Dual) Trio jackpot at any meeting is, for any reason, not run, not won, declared a no race or postponed to another race meeting each combination selected in the Super (Dual) Trio jackpot for such race shall be deemed to be a winning combination and the remaining race will be deemed to form the Super (Dual) Trio jackpot pool.

11 Less than four runners

11. If as a result of greyhounds being withdrawn there are less than four runners in any of the selected races then each selection in that race shall be deemed to be a winning selection and the remaining selected race shall be deemed to form the Super (Dual) Trio Jackpot pool.

12 Minimum number of selected races

12. If for any reason less than the selected number of races in the pool is run then the dividend shall be calculated by dividing the net pool by the number of units on the winning combination or combinations in the selected race of the pool which was run.

13 Jackpot Carryover

13. A jackpot carryover, if any, shall only be added to the pool in the event of the minimum two selected races being run. In the event of only one of the two selected races being run then the carryover will be added to the net pool in a subsequent Super (Dual) Trio Pool.

14 Abandoned or postponed meeting

14. In the event of a meeting being abandoned or postponed before the completion of the first selected race then the pool shall be cancelled and the total amount staked in the pool shall be refunded on presentation of tickets.

15. Save as otherwise provided in these regulations the provisions of the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Operating) Regulations 1971 ( S.I. No. 47 of 1971 ) shall apply in respect of bets made and accepted in the Super (Dual) Trio jackpot pool.

16. These regulations shall come into operation on the 27th day of March, 1997.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these regulations is to amend the Greyhound Race Track (Totalisator) (Operating) Regulations, 1971, to allow for the purchase of tickets in a multiple event pool.
