COURTS (NO. 2) ACT, 1986 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1997

I, NORA OWEN, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 10 (5) of the Courts (No. 2) Act, 1986 (No. 26 of 1986), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Courts (No. 2) Act, 1986 (Commencement) Order, 1997.

2. In this Order "the Act of 1986" means the Courts (No. 2) Act, 1986 (No. 26 of 1986).

3. The 1st day of May, 1997, is hereby fixed as the day on which section 1 of the Act of 1986 shall come into operation.

4. The 1st day of May, 1997, is hereby fixed as the day on which section 9 of the Act of 1986, in so far as it amends the Enforcement of Court Orders Act, 1926 , shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings section 1 of the Courts (No. 2) Act, 1986 and section 9 of that Act, in so far as it amends the Enforcement of Court Orders Act, 1926 , into operation on 1st May, 1997.

Section 1 of the Courts (No. 2) Act, 1986 is concerned with District Court procedures for the examination of debtors as to means.

The amendments made to the Enforcement of Court Orders Act, 1926 by section 9 of the Courts (No. 2) Act, 1986 are consequential on section 1 of the 1986 Act and are set out in the First Schedule to that Act.
