DISTRICT COURT AREAS (ALTERATION OF PLACE) (NO. 1) ORDER, 1997.

I, RICHARD BRUTON, Acting Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), as amended by section 43 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), and by section 16 of the Courts Act, 1971 (No. 36 of 1971), and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the District Court Areas (Alteration of Place) (No. 1) Order, 1997.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 9th day of January, 1997.

2. The place for holding the District Court in the district court area of Stranorlar, shall, in lieu of the place specified in column (4) at reference number 72 in the First Schedule and in column (4) at reference number 64 in the Second Schedule, to the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ), as amended by the District Court Areas (Alteration of Place) Order, 1962 ( S.I. No. 114 of 1962 ), be Letterkenny.

3. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and is not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business was initiated.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is that sittings of the District Court for the District Court Area of Stranorlar will be held at Letterkenny instead of Ballybofey.
