EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (PESTICIDE RESIDUES) (CEREALS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1996.

I, IVAN YATES, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 , (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 95/39/EC of 17 July, 1995(1) hereby make the following Regulations:

(1)O.J. No. L197 of 22-8-1995.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Cereals) (Amendment), Regulations, 1996, and shall come into operation on 14 February, 1996.

(2) The European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Cereals) Regulations 1995 and these Regulations, may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Cereals) Regulations 1988 to 1996, and shall be construed as one.

2. In these Regulations—

"the Principal Regulations" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Cereals) Regulations. 1988 ( S.I. No. 216 of 1988 ).

3. The Schedule to Principal Regulations is hereby amended by:

( a ) the addition in Annex II (as amended by the Regulations of 1993 and 1995) of the following text:

60. METHOMYL THIODICARB

Residue: sum of methomyl and thiodicarb expressed as methomyl

0.05(*)

61. AMITRAZ

Residue: amitraz plus all metabolites containing 2.4 demethylaniline expressed as amitraz

62. PIRIMIPHOS-METHYL

63. ALDICARB

Residue: sum of aldicarb, its sulfoxide and its sulfone expressed as aldicarb

0.05(*)

64. THIABENDAZOLE

(a) wheat, rice 0.05(*): others

and

( b ) the addition in the footnotes in Annex II of the following footnote:

( a ) Should levels not be adopted by 1 July 2000 the level of 0.05(*) shall apply.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend existing ones by extending the list of pesticides for which residue maximum levels have been set.
