LOCAL GOVERNMENT (WATER POLLUTION) ACT, 1977, (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1996

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 (No. 1 of 1977 ), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 , (Commencement) Order, 1996.

2. Section 34 of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 shall come into operation on the 22nd day of January 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order brings into operation, from 22nd January 1996, section 34 of the Local Government (Water Pollution) Act, 1977 providing for the repeal of the Rivers Pollution Prevention Acts, 1876 and 1893.
