AIR NAVIGATION (DESIGNATED AREAS) ORDER, 1995.

The Irish Aviation Authority in pursuance of the powers conferred on it by Sections 5 and 68 (1) of the Irish Aviation Authority Act, 1993 , No. 29 of 1993, with the consent of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications and the Minister for Defence, hereby orders the designation of the following areas of Irish Airspace for use by the Defence Forces.

1. (1) This order may be cited as the Air Navigation (Designated Areas) Order, 1995.

(2) This order shall come into operation on the 14th day of September 1995.

(3) This order constitutes:

( a ) an amendment to the lower limit of the existing Sector C of EI R16 and the amalgamation of Sectors B, C and D of EI R16 into one sector;

( b ) the designation as a restricted area of EI R22.

2. In this order—

"Designated Area" means an airspace of defined dimensions designated by the Irish Aviation Authority with the consent of the Minister for Defence for use by the Defence Forces.

"Restricted Area" means an airspace of defined dimensions, above the land areas or territorial waters of a State, within which the flight of aircraft is restricted in accordance with specified conditions.

3. The following shall be designated as Restricted Area EI R16 Sector B.

( a ) Lateral Limits:

The areas contained within the following bearing, range limits — centred on Casement Aerodrome

(intersection of runways) 531804N 062630W — and co-ordinates but excluding the airspace designated as Prohibited Area EI P10 (Curragh Camp, County Kildare):—

Bearing 220 True, clockwise to bearing 250 True, Range limits: 8 Nautical Miles to 20 Nautical Miles; and

Bearing 250 True, Range limits: 15 Nautical Miles to 20 Nautical Miles clockwise to a line joining the co-ordinates 532430N 065803W and 532348N 064935W.

( b ) Vertical Limits:

2,000 ft above Mean Sea Level up to and including Flight Level 240 but excluding the airspace designated as Prohibited Area EI P10 (Curragh Camp, County Kildare).

4. The following shall be designated as Restricted Area EI R22:

( a ) Lateral Limits:

An area contained within a circle of one nautical mile radius centred on position 542941N 081354W.

( b ) Vertical Limits:

Surface to 1,000ft above Mean Sea Level.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order relates to the designation of certain additional areas of airspace for use by the Defence Force. It provides for:—

— a change to the vertical limits of Sector C and the amalgation of Sectors B, C and D of the Restricted Area EI R16 into one sector, now redesignated as Sector B.

— the designation of EI R22 (Finner Camp) as a Restricted Area.
