HOUSING (TRANSFER OF FUNCTIONS) ORDER, 1995.

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment by section 23 (3) of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 (No. 18 of 1992), which powers are delegated to me by the Environment (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1995 ( S.I. No. 3 of 1995 ), I, LIZ McMANUS, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, hereby order as follows:—

1. This order may be cited as the Housing (Transfer of Functions) Order, 1995.

2. This order shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1995.

3. The functions of the council of the county of Sligo as respects section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979 (No. 27 of 1979), and sections 2 to 4 and sections 6 and 7 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 , are, in the case of the borough of Sligo, hereby transferred to the Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Sligo.

4. The Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Sligo shall, as respects the said borough, perform the functions hereby transferred separately from the functional area of the council of the county of Sligo.

5. (1) Expenses in relation to the performance of the functions hereby transferred shall be defrayed out of the municipal fund of the borough of Sligo.

(2) In this article "municipal fund" has the meaning assigned to it by the Local Government Act, 1946 (No. 24 of 1946).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order transfers to Sligo Corporation, as respects their functional area, certain functions performed by Sligo County Council in relation to disabled persons grants, shared ownership leases and the granting of assistance to approved housing bodies.
