PUBLIC BODIES (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1993.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 9 , 10 and 21 of the City and County Management (Amendment) Act, 1955 (No. 12 of 1955) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Public Bodies (Amendment) Order, 1993.

2. In this Order the expression "the Principal Order" means the Public Bodies Order, 1946 (S.R. and O. 1946 No. 273).

3. This Order and the Public Bodies Orders 1946 to 1992 shall be construed as one and may be together cited as "the Public Bodies Orders, 1946 to 1993".

4. On the coming into operation of this Order the Principal Order shall have effect with the amendment specified in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULE

Article 53 of the Principal Order (as substituted therein by the Public Bodies (Amendment) Order, 1992. ( S.I. No. 327 of 1992 ) shall be deleted and the following article substituted therefor:

"53. (1) The 1st day of October to the 16th day of November in each local financial year shall be the prescribed period for the preparation of the estimate of expenses and the holding of the estimates meeting by a county council in respect of the local financial year then next ensuing.

(2) The 1st day of October to the 30th day of November in each local financial year shall be the prescribed period for the preparation of the estimate of expenses and the holding of the estimates meeting by a council of a county borough or by an urban authority in respect of the local financial year then next ensuing.

(3) The 1st day of October to the 30th day of October in each local financial year shall be the prescribed period for the preparation of the estimate of expenses and the holding of the estimates meeting by an elective body which is not a rating authority in respect of the local financial year then next ensuing.

(4) Sub-articles (1) and (2) shall not apply insofar as they relate to the Council of the County of Dublin and the Corporation of Dún Laoghaire and if county councils are established which are successors to the Council of the County of Dublin and the Corporation of Dún Laoghaire, the 1st day of January, 1994, to the 21st day of January, 1994, shall be the prescribed period for the preparation of the estimate of expenses and the holding of the estimates meeting by each such succeeding county council in respect of the local financial year 1994 only and thereafter Sub-article (1) shall apply to such councils in respect of the local financial year then next ensuing.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends the Public Bodies Orders 1946 to 1992. It prescribes the period for the preparation of the estimates of expenses and the holding of the estimates meetings by local authorities.
