Notice of wreck to be given by receiver.

45.—(1) A receiver shall, within 72 hours of taking possession of a wreck—

(a) cause to be posted, at the appropriate customs office and Garda Síochána station, a notice describing the wreck and any marks which distinguish it,

(b) send a similar notice to the Director of the National Museum, and

(c) if in the opinion of the receiver the value of the wreck exceeds £20,000, send a similar notice to the secretary of the body known as Lloyd's of London.

(2) In this section “appropriate customs office and Garda Síochána station” means—

(a) such office and station which are nearest the place where the wreck was found or was duly delivered to the receiver, or

(b) where there is more than one Garda Síochána station or customs office in the district for which the receiver is responsible, in either case the main or any one or more of such stations or offices as the receiver considers appropriate in the circumstances.
