SOCIAL WELFARE (UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1992.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981 ) and section 29 of that Act, (as amended by section 28 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992 (No. 5 of 1992)), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1 Short title and collective citation.

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Unemployment Benefit) (No. 2) Regulations, 1992.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1992 ( S.I. No. 189 of 1992 ) shall be constructed together as one.

(3) A reference to "the Social Welfare (Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1992" shall include these Regulations.

2 Interpretation.

2. In these Regulations—

"local office" means an office of the Department of Social Welfare or other place appointed by the Minister as a local office for the purposes of the Principal Act;

"the Principal Act" means the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 .

3 Prescribed manner for proving unemployment.

3. A person shall prove unemployment for the purposes of section 29 (1) (b) of the Principal Act by attending at a local office at such time as the Minister may direct for the purpose of making a written declaration, in such form as the Minister may determine or by making such declaration in such other manner as the Minister may determine, that—

( a ) he has been continuously unemployed since the date of his claim for unemployment benefit, or

( b ) he has been unemployed or expects to be unemployed during each day in respect of which unemployment benefit is claimed.
