CHILD CARE ACT, 1991 (COMMENCEMENT) (NO. 3) ORDER, 1992.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 (2) of the Child Care Act, 1991 (No. 17 of 1991), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Child Care Act, 1991 (Commencement) (No. 3) Order, 1992.

2. Sections 3 , 7 and 8 of the Child Care Act, 1991 shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1992.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to bring sections 3 , 7 and 8 of the Child Care Act, 1991 into operation.

Section 3 places a statutory duty on health boards to promote the welfare of children who are not receiving adequate care and protection and to provide child care and family support services.

Section 7 requires each health board to establish a child care advisory committee to advise it on the performance of its functions under the Act.

Section 8 requires health boards to undertake an annual review of the child care and family support services available in their areas.
