ROAD TRANSPORT (INTERNATIONAL CARRIAGE OF GOODS BY ROAD) ORDER, 1992.

I, MÁIRE GEOGHEGAN-QUINN, Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 8 (2) (inserted by section 8 of the Road Transport Act, 1986 (No. 16 of 1986) of the Road Transport Act, 1971 (No. 8 of 1971), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 92 of 1987 ), as adapted by the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 25 of 1991 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Road Transport (International Carriage of Goods by Road) Order, 1992.

2. A permit granted by the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications and issued by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Water Management of the Republic of Hungary under the Agreement made on the 29th day of June, 1992 on behalf of the Government and the Government of the Republic of Hungary on the international carriage of passengers and goods by road (being an international agreement on the international transport by road) shall be deemed to be a restricted road freight licence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to allow the Hungarian transport authorities to issue permits on Ireland's behalf for access by Hungarian hauliers to Ireland. This gives formal effect to an international road transport agreement between Ireland and Hungary.
