TRUSTEE SAVINGS BANKS ACT, 1989 (REMOVAL OF DIFFICULTY) REGULATIONS, 1992.

WHEREAS the Cork and Limerick Savings Bank and the Trustee Savings Bank Dublin have amalgamated;

AND WHEREAS the Central Bank of Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14 (1) of the Trustee Savings Banks Act, 1989 (No. 21 of 1989), has consented to the omission of the phrases "trustee savings bank" and "savings bank" from the name of the bank formed by the amalgamation aforesaid;

AND WHEREAS the name of the bank formed by the amalgamation aforesaid is the TSB Bank;

NOW, I Bertie Ahern, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the Trustee Savings Banks Act, 1989 (No. 21 of 1989), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Trustee Savings Banks Act, 1989 (Removal of Difficulty) Regulations, 1992.

2. Section 23 of the Trustee Savings Banks Act, 1989 (No. 21 of 1989), is hereby amended by the insertion in subsections (2) and (3) after "the —————— Savings Bank" of "or the trustees of the TSB Bank".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations are required as a result of the amalgamation of Cork and Limerick Savings Bank and Trustee Savings Bank Dublin on 1 June 1992 to become TSB Bank.

The regulations, made under section 5 of the Trustee Savings Banks Act, 1989 , constitute a technical amendment of section 23 of that Act, so as to allow the trustees of TSB Bank to sue or be sued under the name "the trustees of the TSB Bank", and so as to allow the property of TSB Bank to be and stand vested in its trustees under the description "the trustees of the TSB Bank".
