WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY (EXPERIMENTER'S LICENCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1992.

I, MÁIRE GEOGHEGAN-QUINN, T.D., Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 (1) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1926 , (No. 45 of 1926), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 26 of 1991 ), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) Regulations, 1992.

(2) The Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1986, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1992.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1992.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. The Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations 1937 (S.R. & O.,No. 330 of 1937), are hereby amended—

( a ) in Regulations 4 and 7, by the substitution of "14 years" for "sixteen years",

( b ) in Regulation 11—

(i) by the substitution in paragraph (1) of "£10" for "eight pounds" (inserted by the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) Regulations, 1986 ( S.I. No. 74 of 1986 )) and of "£8" for "six pounds and fifty new pence" (inserted by the Regulations aforesaid), and

(ii) by the substitution of the following paragraph for paragraph (2):

"(2) Where, for the purpose of satisfying the Minister in relation to one or more of the matters specified in Regulation 6 of these Regulations, an applicant for an experimenter's licence submits himself at the request of the Minister to an examination held by or on behalf of the Minister in relation to one or more of those matters, a fee of £10 shall be paid by such applicant to the Minister before the commencement of the examination.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for a reduction from 16 years to 14 years of the minimum age of which a person may apply for an experimenter's licence, for increases in the licence fees for the radio experimenter's licence and for an increase in the examination fee in respect of the radio experimenter's examination.
