ABATTOIRS ACT 1988 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1992.

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Abattoirs Act, 1988 (No. 8 of 1988), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Abattoirs Act, 1988 (Commencement) Order, 1992.

2. The 1st day of June 1992, is hereby appointed to be the day when section 3 (2) of Part 1, sections of Part IV not already commenced and Part V shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to bring into operation on the 1st day of June 1992, the provisions of the Abattoirs Act, 1988 , (No. 8 of 1988) relating to the veterinary control and hygiene of abattoirs, the charging of fees by local authorities for inspection of animals and meat and certain provisions relating to functions of sanitary authorities transferred by the Act.
