MERCHANT SHIPPING (LIGHT DUES) (No. 2) ORDER, 1991.

I, JOHN P. WILSON, Minister for the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) Act, 1983 (No. 18 of 1983), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) (No. 2) Order, 1991.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1991.

2. (1) Part I of the Second Schedule (inserted by the Merchant Shipping (Light dues) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 90 of 1991 )) to the Merchant Shipping (Mercantile Marine Fund) Act, 1898, is hereby amended by the substitution of the following subparagraph for subparagraph (4) of paragraph 1:

"(4) In the year commencing on the 1st day of April, 1991, and in any subsequent year a ship shall not be required to make payments on account of light dues for more than 7 voyages in total."

(2) Paragraph (1) of this Article shall have effect in relation to a ship irrespective of the number (if any) of voyages made by it before the commencement of this Order in the year commencing on the 1st day of April, 1991.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends the Merchant Shipping (Light Dues) Order, 1991 to provide for an increase in the number of voyages for which light dues are chargeable in the 1991/1992 financial year from six to seven.
