CONTROL OF DOGS (RESTRICTION OF CERTAIN DOGS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1991.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 19 and 31 of the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (No. 32 of 1986), hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Control of Dogs (Restriction of Certain Dogs) (Amendment) Regulations, 1991.

2. Article 4 of the Control of Dogs (Restriction of Certain Dogs) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 123 of 1991 ) is hereby amended—

( a ) by the substitution for "sub-article (2)" of "sub-articles (2), (3) and (4)" and

( b ) by the addition after sub-article (2) of the following sub-articles:—

"(3) Article 6 of these Regulations shall not apply to a dog which is being trained as a guide dog by a bona fide training establishment for the training of guide dogs for use by blind people, or, having been so trained, is being used for the purpose of guidance by a blind person or a person whose eyesight is so defective that he is unable to find his way about without guidance.

(4) Articles 5 and 6 of these Regulations shall not apply to a dog which is being used by a bona fide rescue team for the purpose of searching for a missing person.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend certain provisions of the Control of Dogs (Restriction of Certain Dogs) Regulations, 1991.
