ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY BOROUGH OF DUBLIN AND COUNTY OF DUBLIN) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1991.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act (as amended by section 23 of the Road Traffic Act 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1991.

(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin Regulations 1989 to 1990 and these Regulations shall be construed together and may be cited collectively as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations 1989 to 1991.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 7th day of June, 1991.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations 1989 ( S.I. No. 206 of 1989 )

4. Reference 2 of the First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by

( a ) the deletion at reference (a) of the words "Con Colbert Road"

( b ) the addition thereto after paragraph (v) of the following paragraph

"(w) Con Colbert Road between its junction with Sarsfield Road and a point 150 metres west of its junction with the South Circular Road (National Road N7)".

( c ) the substitution at reference (o) of the words "150 metres east" for the words "46 metres east", and

( d ) the insertion as reference (x) of the following:

"(x) The Chapelizod By-Pass between the County Borough boundary and its junction with the Con Colbert Road".

5. Reference 5 (c) of the Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by—

( a ) the deletion of reference (i) and the substitution therefor of

"(i) the Palmerstown By-Pass and its continuation as the Lucan By-Pass between a point 60 metres north west of its junction with Kew Park Crescent and the County Borough Boundary".

6. Reference 6 of the Third Schedule of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by

( a ) the deletion at paragraph (a) (i) of the words "Con Colbert Road".

( b ) the substitution at paragraph (1) (ii) of the words "150 metres east" for the words "46 metres east".

( c ) the deletion of paragraph (n) (ix) and the substitution therefor of:

(n) (ix) The Palmerstown By-Pass between a point 1,195 metres east of its junction with the Fonthill-Newlands Road and the County Borough boundary, and

( d ) the addition after sub paragraph (n) (xiv) of the following sub paragraphs:—

"(xv) The Northbound On-Ramp linking the Naas Road (National Road N7) to the Western Parkway Motorway.

(xvi) The Northbound Off-Ramp linking the Western Parkway Motorway to the Naas Road (National Road N7).

(xvii) The Southbound On-Ramp linking the Naas Road (National Road N7) to the Western Parkway Motorway.

(xviii) The Southbound Off-Ramp linking the Western Parkway Motorway to the Naas Road (National Road N7).

(xix) The Walkinstown Embankment Road.

(xx) Sylvan Drive for a distance of 40 metres from its junction with the Walkinstown Embankment Road.

(xxi) The Northbound On-Ramp linking the Walkinstown Embankment Road to the Western Parkway Motorway.

(xxii) The Northbound Off-Ramp linking the Western Parkway Motorway to the Walkinstown Embankment Road.

(xxiii) The Southbound On-Ramp linking the Walkinstown Embankment Road to the Western Parkway Motorway.

(xxiv) The Southbound Off-Ramp linking the Western Parkway Motorway to the Walkinstown Embankment Road.

(xxv) The Northbound On-Ramp linking the Tallaght Road (National Road N81) to the Western Parkway Motorway.

(xxvi) The Southbound Off-Ramp linking the Western Parkway Motorway to the Tallaght Road (National Road N81).

(xxvii) The Tallaght Town Centre access road to the Belgard Road for a distance of 30 metres from its junction with the Belgard Road.

(xxviii) The Tallaght Town Centre easternmost access road to the Tallaght By-Pass for a distance of 30 metres from its junction with the Tallaght By-Pass.

(xxix) The Tallaght Town Centre westernmost access road to the Tallaght By-Pass for a distance of 30 metres from its junction with the Tallaght By-Pass.

(xxx) The link road between the Firhouse Road and the Tallaght Road (National Road N 81)." and

( e ) the addition after paragraph (n) of the following paragraphs:

"(o) (i) The Chapelizod By-Pass between the County Borough boundary and its junction with the Con Colbert Road."

(ii) Con Colbert Road between its junction with Sarsfield Road and a point 150 metres west of its junction with the South Circular Road (National Road N7)."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Dublin and County of Dublin) Regulations, 1989 by prescribing 40 mph and 30 mph speed limits in respect of the public roads mentioned in these Regulations.

Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Siochana vehicles while being used in the course of duty are exempt from the speed limits.
