SHANNON NAVIGATION (EXTENSION OF LIMITS OF NAVIGATION) BYE-LAWS, 1991.

WHEREAS the limits of the river Suck in the counties of Galway and Roscommon for the purposes of the Act of the British Parliament 2 & 3 Vict., c. 61, as amended, and the Shannon Navigation Act, 1990 , stand fixed and determined under the first-mentioned Act as the part of the river Suck between the river Shannon and the site of the former weir at Pollboy Mill in the county of Galway;

AND whereas the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland propose by these Bye-laws to fix and determine the limits of the said river Suck so as to extend the limits fixed and determined as aforesaid to include the part of the said river Suck between the site of the said former weir and the East Bridge in the town of Ballinasloe and county of Galway together with the part of the branch of the said river Suck in the said town of Ballinasloe between a point 120 metres south of the said East Bridge and a point 80 metres east of St. Michael's Church in the said town of Ballinasloe.

NOW the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 39 of the Act of the British Parliament 2 & 3 Vict., c. 61 and section 3 of the Shannon Navigation Act, 1990 (No. 20 of 1990), hereby make the following Bye-laws.

1. These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Shannon Navigation (Extension of Limits of Navigation) Bye-Laws, 1991.

2. These Bye-Laws shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1991.

3. The limits of the river Suck in the counties of Galway and Roscommon are hereby fixed and determined for the purposes of the Shannon Act and the Shannon Navigation Act, 1990 (No. 20 of 1990), as the part of that river between the river Shannon and the East Bridge in the town of Ballinasloe and county of Galway together with the part of the branch of the said river Suck in the said town of Ballinasloe between a point 120 metres south of the said East Bridge and a point 80 metres east of St. Michael's Church in the said town of Ballinasloe.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 3 (3) of the Shannon Navigation Act, 1990 empowers the Commissioners of Public Works to make Bye-laws extending the limits of the Navigation which are determined by the Act of the British Parliament 2 and 3 Vict., c. 61, as amended. This Bye-law extends the limits of the Navigation in the Suck tributary to the town of Ballinasloe, County Galway and so brings this section of the river within the scope of Shannon legislation.
