SAFETY, HEALTH AND WELFARE AT WORK ACT, 1989 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989

I, BERTIE AHERN, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 1 (2) and 14 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 (No. 7 of 1989), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 (Commencement) Order, 1989.

2. In this Order "the Act" means the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 .

3. The 1st day of November, 1989, is hereby fixed as the day on which the Act, except the provisions of section 4 (3), shall come into operation.

4. The 1st day of November, 1989, is hereby appointed to be the establishment day for the purposes of the Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order appoints the 1st day of November, 1989, as the day on which the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 (except the provisions of section 4 (3)) comes into operation and appoints the same day to be the establishment day for the purposes of the Act.
