PRISONS ACT, 1970 (SECTION 7) ORDER, 1989

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 (1) of the Prisons Act, 1970 (No. 11 of 1970), and after consultation with the Visiting Committee to Saint Patrick's Institution, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Prisons Act, 1970 (Section 7) Order, 1989.

2. In this Order "the Order of 1988" means the Prisons Act, 1970 (Section 7) Order, 1988 ( S.I. No. 75 of 1988 ).

3. The Prisons Act, 1970 (Section 7) Order, 1985 ( S.I. No. 118 of 1985 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (2) (inserted by the Order of 1988) of Article 3 of the following paragraph:

"(2) The section shall be in operation for the period of five years commencing on the 26th day of April, 1985, and shall cease to be in operation upon the expiration of that period."

4. The Order of 1988 is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order continues in operation Section 7 of the Prisons Act, 1970 for a further period of twelve months.
