DATA PROTECTION (REGISTRATION PERIOD) REGULATIONS, 1988.

I, DONAL C. LINEHAN, Data Protection Commissioner, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 18 of the Data protection Act, 1988 (No. 25 of 1988), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Justice, make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Data Protection (Registration Period) Regulations, 1988.

2. A period of one year is hereby prescribed for the purposes of section 18 (1) of the Data Protection Act, 1988 (No. 25 of 1988).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations provide that the duration of a registration under the Data Protection Act 1988 (whether it is an initial registration or a continued registration) shall be one year.
