VALUATION ACT, 1988 (GLOBAL VALUATION: ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BOARD) (APPORTIONMENT) ORDER, 1988.

I, RAY MACSHARRY, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 4 (7) of the Valuation Act, 1988 (No. 2 of 1988), and after consultation with the Minister for the Environment, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Valuation Act, 1988 (Global Valuation: Electricity Supply Board) (Apportionment) Order, 1988.

2. The Commissioner of Valuation shall apportion the global valuation of the Electricity Supply Board, determined in pursuance of the Valuation Act, 1988 (Global Valuation: Electricity Supply Board) Order, 1988, between rating authorities as follows:

( a ) 75 per cent of the valuation of an Electricity Generating Station, including the items specified in paragraph 7 of the second Schedule to the Valuation Act, 1988 , situated in a county or county borough shall be apportioned to the council of the county or corporation of the borough;

( b ) the balance of the global valuation shall be apportioned to each rating authority in the proportion, expressed as a percentage, which the population in its area, as determined by the census of population taken under the Statistics (Census of Population) Order, 1986 (S.I. No. 61 of 1986), bears to the population of the State, as so determined.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order sets out the basis on which the Global Valuation of the property of the Electricity Supply Board will be apportioned between rating authorities. 75 per cent of the valuation of all Generating Stations will be assigned to the rating district in which the Stations are located. The balance of the Global Valuation will be apportioned among all rating districts in relation to the proportion of the population in their area.
