PATENTS, DESIGNS AND TRADE MARKS (INTERNATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS) ORDER, 1987.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 152 (5) of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Act, 1927 (No. 16 of 1927) (as adapted by Section 2 of the Executive Powers (Consequential Provisions) Act, 1937 (No. 20 of 1937)), Section 70 (5) of the Trade Marks Act, 1963 (No. 9 of 1963), and Section 93 of the Patents Act, 1964 (No. 12 of 1964), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (International Arrangements) Order, 1987.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. It is hereby declared that the provisions of Section 152 of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) Act, 1927 (No. 16 of 1927) (as amended by Section 7 of the Industrial and Commercial Property (Protection) (Amendment) Act, 1957 (No. 13 of 1957)), and Section 70 of the Trade Marks Act, 1963 (No. 9 of 1963), apply in the case of the foreign states specified in the Schedule to this Order.

4. It is hereby declared that each country specified in the Schedule to this Order is a convention country for the purposes of the Patents Act, 1964 (No. 12 of 1964).

5. (1) The Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (International Arrangements) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1959 ), shall cease to have effect.

(2) The Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (International Arrangements) (Amendment) Order, 1976 ( S.I. No. 316 of 1976 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order discharges Ireland's obligations under the International Convention for the protection of Industrial Property in respect of Patent, Design and Trade Mark applications made in the Convention Countries listed in the Schedule.
