S.I. No. 151/1987 - European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) (Amendment) Regulations, 1987

I, MICHAEL KENNEDY, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Fiftieth Commission Directive No. 85/342/EEC of 24 June, 1985,1 Commission Directive No. 85/429/EEC of 8 July, 1985,2 Commission Directive No. 85/520/EEC of 11 November, 1985,3 Second Commission Directive No. 86/29/EEC of 5 February, 1986,4 Commission Directive No. 86/30 0/EEC of 4 June, 1986,5 Commission Directive No. 86/403/EEC of 28 July, 1986,6 Commission Directive No. 86/525/EEC of 27 October, 1986,7 Commission Directive No. 87/243/EEC of 23 April, 1987,8 and the Commission Directive No. 87/244/EEC of 23 April, 1987,9 hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) (Amendment) Regulations, 1987.

(2) The European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) Regulations, 1974 to 1985, and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) Regulations, 1974 to 1987.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1987.

3. (1) Regulation 2 of the European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) Regulations, 1974 ( S.I. No. 302 of 1974 ), as amended by the Regulations specified in paragraph (2) of this Regulation, shall be construed and have effect as if the reference in the definition of "the Council Directive" to the Ninth Commission Directive No. 74/421/EEC of 23 July, 1974,10 included references to each of the following, namely, Fiftieth Commission Directive No. 85/342/EEC of 24 June, 1985,1 Commission Directive No. 85/429/EEC of 8 July, 1985,2 Commission Directive No. 85/520/EEC of 11 November, 1985,3 Second Commission Directive No. 86/29/EEC of 5 February, 1986,4 Commission Directive No. 86/300/EEC of 4 June, 1986,5 Commission Directive No. 86/403/EEC of 28 July, 1986,6 Commission Directive No. 86/525/EEC of 27 October, 1986,7 Commission Directive No. 87/243/EEC of 23 April 1987, 8 and the Commission Directive No. 87/244/EEC of 23 April 1987.9

2. The Regulations referred to in paragraph (1) of this Regulation are:r

(a) Regulation 4 (1) of the Regulations of 1985 and

(b) the Regulations referred to in Regulation 4 (2) of the Regulations of 1985.

(3) In this Regulation "the Regulations of 1985" means the European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) (Amendment) Regulations, 1985 ( S.I. No. 315 of 1985 ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Feeding Stuffs) (Additives) Regulations, 1974 to 1985 so as to bring into force amendments made in the meantime to Council Directive 70/524/EEC through Commission directives 85/342/EEC, 85/429/EEC, 85/520/EEC, 86/29/EEC, 86/300/EEC, 86/403/EEC, 86/525/EEC, 87/243/EEC and 87/244/EEC.
