AQUACULTURE (CARLINGFORD LOUGH) ORDER, 1986.

I, LIAM KAVANAGH, Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 54 of the Fisheries Act, 1980 (No. 1 of 1980), as amended by section 5 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 40 of 1983), and by the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 30 of 1977 ) (as adapted by the Fisheries and Forestry (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1986 ( S.I. No. 40 of 1986 )), having complied with the requirements of subsection (3) of the said section 54, and having considered a report made to me under subsection (4) of the said section 54, and being of the opinion that, notwithstanding the existence of any public right to fish in the waters to which the following order relates, it is in the public interest that the order be made, hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Communications, order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Aquaculture (Carlingford Lough) Order, 1986.

2. The area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby designated to be an area within which it shall be lawful to engage in aquaculture pursuant to and in accordance with a licence granted under section 54 of the Fisheries Act, 1980 (No. 1 of 1980).

SCHEDULE

All that area of Carlingford Lough which is enclosed by an imaginary line commencing at the most easterly part of the high water mark at Ballagan Point in the townland of Ballagan in the county of Louth and continuing due north to the point where it reaches latitude 54° 01' 00" north, and continuing in a straight line to the most northerly point of the high water mark Greenore point in the townland of Greenore in the county of Louth and continuing in a straight line to the point latitude 54° 02' 36" north by longitude 6° 08' 18" west and continuing in a straight line to the point latitude 54° 03' 24" north by longitude 6° 11' 0" west and continuing in a straight line to the point where the boundary between the townlands of Lislea and Cornamucklagh in the county of Louth meet the high water mark and finally continuing along the high water mark, initially in a south-easterly direction to the point first mentioned.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order designates the area of Carlingford Lough and adjoining waters as being an area within which it shall be lawful to engage in aquaculture pursuant to a licence issued by the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry.
