HARBOUR RATES (SLIGO PORT AND HARBOUR) ORDER, 1986

I, TED NEALON, Minister of State at the Department of Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by
section 104
of the
Harbours Act, 1946
(No. 9 of 1946), the
Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983
(No. 40 of 1983), and the Communications (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1984 (
S.I. No. 146 of 1984
), and after due compliance with section 106 of the said
Harbours Act, 1946
, hereby order as follows:—
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1986.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of November, 1986.
2. The Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O., No. 43 of 1943), is hereby amended by—
|

(a) the substitution for the First Schedule thereto (inserted by the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1984 (
S.I. No. 295 of 1984
)) of the following Schedule:

(a) On every ton of the net register tonnage or of half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater of every vessel (except as hereinafter provided) entering the Harbour for the purpose of shipping, transhipping or discharging cargo, or cargo and passengers, a sum not exceeding

(b) On every ton of the net register tonnage or of half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater of every vessel entering the Harbour for the purpose of embarking or disembarking passengers or on an excursion trip, or through stress of weather, or for repairs, or for salvage operations, or for a supply of coal or stores for ship's consumption only and not discharging or loading cargo, a sum not exceeding

(c) On every ton of the net register tonnage or of half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater of every vessel remaining or lying in the Harbour after the expiration of a period of six consecutive weeks, a sum for each week not exceeding

Tonnage rates on fishing vessels:

As a composition in full in lieu of tonnage rates on every fishing vessel engaged in fishing entering the Harbour per trip

Tonnage rates on salvage vessels:

|
The appropriate charges at reference number (1) (b) above on first entry to the Harbour and in addition on every ton of the net tonnage or half the gross tonnage whichever is the greater, with a minimum of 120 rateable tons for each day (Sundays excepted) during the continuance of the salvage operations or in the breaking up or removal of wrecks, a sum not exceeding

The rates mentioned in Part I of this Schedule shall not be chargeable on any boat, smack, cot, gabbard, lighter or wherry which shall not have been registered under the Merchant Shipping Acts and shall be usually employed in the Port or any part thereof."

Weights of less than a metric tonne payable under this Schedule shall be chargeable as follows:—

(a) any weight not exceeding 500 kilos shall count as 500 kilos;

(b) any weight exceeding 500 kilos and less than 1 tonne shall count as a tonne.".
