EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to give legal effect to Commission Directive 82/499/EEC. This Directive has the effect of replacing the Annex to an earlier Council Directive (76/889/EEC) and was necessary because of improvements to the technical requirements for compliance with the Directive. Both Directives aim at the harmonisation of the laws of E.E.C. member states relating to the suppression of radio interference caused by electrical household appliances, portable tools and similar equipment.
