ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF KERRY) REGULATIONS, 1983.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1 Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) Regulations, 1983.

2 Commencement.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 21st day of November, 1983.

3 Interpretation

3. In these Regulations save where the context otherwise requires.

"The Act" means the Road Traffic Act, 1961 ;

"distance" means distance as measured along the centre line of a road;

"national road" means a road declared to be a national road in the Local Government (Roads and Motorways) Act, 1974 (Declaration of National Roads) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1977 ) and any reference to the number of such road shall be a reference to the number of such road as shown in column 1 of the First and Second Schedules to the aforementioned Order;

"road" means a public road;

"perimeter road" means a road on and along the roadway of which there runs the boundary of an urban district;

"special speed limit" and "built-up area speed limit" have the meanings respectively assigned to them in Part IV of the Act.

4 Built-up area speed limit.

4. (1) Each of the roads described in the First Schedule to these Regulations is hereby declared not to be a public road in a built-up area for the purposes of section 45 of the Act.

(2) Each of the roads described in the Second Schedule to these Regulations is hereby declared to be a public road in a built-up area for the purposes of section 45 of the Act.

5 Special speed limit.

5. Forty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Third Schedule to these Regulations.

6 Exceptions.

6. There shall be excepted from the special speed limit prescribed in article 5 of these Regulations and from the built-up area speed limit the following:—

( a ) ambulances,

( b ) fire brigade vehicles and

( c ) vehicles used by members of the Garda Síochána in the performance of their duties as such members.

7 Revocation.

7. The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 145 of 1977 ) and the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 77 of 1983 ) are hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Roads declared not to be public roads in a built- up area for the purposes of Section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 .

1. The following roads in the Urban District of Killarney:—

( a ) Ross Road.

( b ) National Road N22 north-westwards from the urban district boundary to a point 90 metres south-east of its junction with the Spa Road.

( c ) Woodlawn Road between its junction with National Road N22 and a point 27 metres north-east of its junction with the Ballycasheen Road.

2. The following roads in the Urban District of Listowel:—

( a ) The Ballybunion Road between the urban district boundary and a point 485 metres from the junction of the Greenville Road and the Ballybunion Road.

( b ) National Road N69 north-eastwards from the urban district boundary to a point 45 metres south-west of its junction with the Duagh Road.

3. The following roads in the Urban District of Tralee:—

( a ) The New Road, the Ballyvelly-Farranstephen road, the road connecting the Tralee-Lohercannon road with the Dingle Road at Blennerville Bridge.

( b ) The road leading from Blennerville to Ballyard.

( c ) Basin Road for a distance of 110 metres from its junction with the Dingle Road.

( d ) The Kerries Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the southern side of the road and the point where the eastern boundary of Ballyvelly townland intersects the southern side of the road.

( e ) The Abbeydorney Road between the urban district boundary and a point 120 metres south-west of its junction with Bullock Hill Road.

( f ) Buntalloon Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the north-eastern side of the road and a point 18 metres north-west of its junction with St. Brendan's Park.

( g ) National Road N69 for a distance of 60 metres from Forge Cross.

( h ) The Clash Road and its continuation as the Ballybeggan-Dromtacker road between a point 366 metres north-east of its junction with National Road N21 and the point where the urban district boundary intersects the western side of the road.

( i ) The Ballyard Road between the point where the urban district boundary intersects the north-western side of the road and a point 45 metres south-west of its junction with the Dingle Road.

( j ) The Dingle Road between a point 95 metres east of the centre line of Blennerville Bridge and its junction with the New Road.

( k ) The Ardfert Road for a distance of 560 metres from the urban district boundary.

( l ) Tralee-Lohercannon road between its junction with the Ballyvelly-Farranstephen road and the urban district boundary.

( m ) The road leading from Forge Cross to the Ballybeggan-Dromtacker road where the said road is a perimeter road.

( n ) The Cloghers Road between its junction with the Ballyard Road and a point 70 metres south-west of the point where the urban district boundary intersects the eastern side of the road.

( o ) The Racecourse Road for a distance of 75 metres from its junction with the Ballybeggan Road.

SECOND SCHEDULE

Roads declared to be public roads in a built-up area for the purposes of section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 .

1. The following roads at Abbeydorney:—

( a ) The Tralee-Ballybunion road between a point 275 metres south-east of its junction with the Ardfert-Lixnaw road and a point 92 metres north-west of the said junction.

( b ) The Ardfert-Lixnaw road between a point 310 metres south-west of its junction with the Tralee-Ballybunion road and a point 230 metres north-east of the said junction.

2. The following roads at Annascaul:—

( a ) The Tralee-Dingle road between a point 92 metres south-west of its junction with the Derrygorman Road and a point 235 metres south-west of the centre line of Annascaul Bridge.

( b ) The Ballinacourty Road for a distance of 7 metres from its junction with the Dingle-Tralee road.

( c ) The Ardrinane Road for a distance of 85 metres from its junction with the Dingle-Tralee road.

( d ) The Back Road for a distance of 130 metres from its junction with the Dingle-Tralee road.

3. The following roads at Ardfert:—

( a ) The Square, Cathedral Road.

( b ) The Tralee-Ballyheigue road between a point 137 metres south-east of its junction with the Abbeydorney Road and a point 640 metres north-west of its junction with the Abbeylands Road.

( c ) The Causeway Road between its junction with Cathedral Road and a point 118 metres north-west of its junction with Sackville Road.

( d ) The Fenit or Chapel Road between its junction with the Tralee Road and a point 132 metres north of Rahoneen Cross.

( e ) The Abbeydorney Road between its junction with the Tralee Road and a point 124 metres south-east of its junction with the entrance road to St. Brendan's housing estate.

( f ) The Sackville Road for a distance of 57 metres from its junction with the Causeway Road.

( g ) The Abbeylands Road for a distance of 45 metres from its junction with the Ballyheigue Road.

4. The following road at Astee:—

The Ballylongford-Ballybunion road between a point 95 metres north-west of its junction with the road leading to Astee West and a point 370 metres west of the said junction.

5. The following roads at Aughacasla:—

( a ) The Tralee-Castlegregory road between a point 285 metres south-east of its junction with the Strand Road and a point 90 metres north-west of its junction with the Keelballylahive Road.

( b ) The Keelballylahive Road for a distance of 150 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Castlegregory road.

( c ) The Aughacasla North Road for a distance of 330 metres north-westwards from its junction with the Tralee-Castlegregory road.

6. The following roads at Ballybunion:—

( a ) Church Road, Georges Street, Georges Terrace, Marian Terrace, South Circular Road, Strand Road, the road connecting Church Road with Strand Road.

( b ) The Listowel Road between its junction with the Sandhill Road and a point 385 metres south-east of its junction with the Ballyduff Road at Ahafona crossroads.

( c ) The Sandhill Road for a distance of 805 metres from its junction with the Listowel Road.

( d ) The Doon Road between the northern end of Strand Road and a point 393 metres south of its junction with the Beale Road and the Ballylongford Road.

( e ) The Ballyduff Road for a distance of 135 metres south-eastwards from its junction with the Listowel Road at Ahafona crossroads.

( f ) The Gortnaskeha Road for a distance of 330 metres eastwards from its junction with the Listowel Road at Ahafona crossroads.

( g ) The Moohane Road for a distance of 95 metres from its junction with the Listowel Road.

7. The following roads at Ballyduff:—

( a ) The School Road.

( b ) The Tralee-Ballybunion road between a point 210 metres south of its junction with the Bishopscourt Road and a point 165 metres north-east of its junction with the Ballyhorgan Road.

( c ) The Bishopscourt Road for a distance of 46 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Ballybunion road.

( d ) The Ballyhorgan Road for a distance of 235 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Ballybunion road.

( e ) The Strand Road for a distance of 23 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Ballybunion road.

( f) The Meenaghane Road for a distance of 92 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Ballybunion road.

( g ) The Heart Hill Road for a distance of 46 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Ballybunion road.

8. The following roads at Ballyheigue:—

( a ) The Kerry Head Road for a distance of 1,363 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Listowel road.

( b ) Harty's Terrace and its continuation as the Mountway Road between its junction with the Kerry Head Road and a point 30 metres south-west of its junction with the Tralee-Listowel road.

( c ) The Tralee-Listowel road between a point 335 metres north of its junction with the Kerry Head Road and a point 110 metres south-east of the said junction.

9. The following roads at Ballylongford:—

( a ) The Astee-Tarbert (Upper) road between a point 1,040 metres north-west of its junction with the Listowel Road and a point 560 metres south-east of the said junction.

( b ) The Carrig Island Road for a distance of 325 metres from its junction with the Astee-Tarbert (Upper) road.

( c ) The Listowel-Tarbert (Lower) road between a point 412 metres south-west of its junction with the Astee-Tarbert (Upper) road and a point 366 metres north-east of the said junction.

10. The following roads at Barraduff:—

( a ) National Road N72 between a point 480 metres west of its junction with the Lisbaba Road and a point 92 metres east of the said junction.

( b ) The Lisbaba-Glenflesk road between a point 92 metres north of its junction with National Road N72 and a point 92 metres south of the said junction.

11. The following roads at Beaufort:—

( a ) The Beaufort Bridge— Gap of Dunloe road between a point 55 metres north of its junction with the Beaufort-Killorglin road and a point 85 metres south of the said junction.

( b ) The Beaufort-Killorglin road between its junction with the Beaufort Bridge-Gap of Dunloe road and a point 140 metres west of Upper Spiddoge Bridge.

12. The following roads at Brosna:—

( a ) The Castleisland-Ahawn road between a point 85 metres west of its junction with the Feales Bridge-Mount Eagle road and a point 605 metres east of the said junction.

( b ) The Feales Bridge-Mount Eagle road between a point 85 metres north of its junction with the Castleisland-Ahawn road and a point 120 metres south of the said junction.

( c ) The Derra Road for a distance of 70 metres from its junction with the Castleisland-Ahawn road.

13. The following roads at Caherciveen:—

( a ) All the roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on National Road N70 15 metres east of its easternmost junction with the Reenrusheen Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

(i) the south-eastern corner of the Fair Green,

(ii) a point on the Garrancaragh Road 5 metres east of Garrancaragh East crossroads,

(iii) a point on National Road N70 15 metres north of Reenard Cross,

(iv) a point on the Castlequin Road 15 metres south of its junction with the road leading to Killavarogue burial ground,

and thence in a straight line to the commencement point on National Road N70.

( b ) National Road N70 between a point 50 metres north of Reenard Cross and a point 635 metres north east of Reenard Cross.

14. The following roads at Caherdaniel:—

( a ) The Derrynane-Caherdaniel-Garrough road between a point 160 metres west of Caherdaniel crossroads and a point 15 metres north-east of the said crossroads.

( b ) National Road N70 between a point 330 metres north-west of Caherdaniel crossroads and a point 15 metres north of Ballycarnahan Cross.

15. The following roads at Camp:—

( a ) The Tralee-Dingle road between a point 250 metres west of its junction with the Ballinknockane Road and a point 60 metres north-east of its junction with the Beheenagh Road at Curraduff.

( b ) The Ballinknockane Road for a distance of 120 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Dingle road.

( c ) The Beheenagh Road for a distance of 145 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Dingle road (at Upper Camp).

( d ) The Beheenagh Road for a distance of 80 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Dingle Road (at Curraduff).

16. The following road at Castlecove:—

National Road N70 between a point 15 metres east of its junction with the Staiguefort Road and a point 15 metres west of its junction with the Liss Road.

17. The following roads at Castlegregory:—

All the roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on the Maharees Road 670 metres north of its junction with the Strand Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Strand Road 100 metres north-east of its junction with the Maharees Road,

( b ) a point on the Caher Road 75 metres south-east of its junction with the Tralee Road,

( c ) a point on the Tralee Road 145 metres south of its junction with the Ballinagrown Road,

( d ) a point on the Ballinagrown Road 50 metres from its junction with the Tralee Road,

( e ) a point on the New Road 160 metres south-west of its junction with Main Street,

( f ) a point on the Killiney Road 70 metres south-west of its junction with the Loughbeg Road,

and from the last mentioned point in a straight line to the commencement point on the Maharees Road.

18. The following roads at Castleisland:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on National Road N21 655 metres north-west of its junction with Main Street and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) a point on the Pound Road 595 metres north-west of its junction with National Road N21,

( b ) a point on National Road N21 330 metres north-west of its junction with Upper Main Street,

( c ) a point on College Road 510 metres north-east of its junction with the Cordal Road,

( d ) a point on the Cordal Road 575 metres east of its junction with College Road,

( e ) a point on the Fieries Road 235 metres east of its junction with the Ballydesmond Road,

( f ) a point on the Ballydesmond Road 815 metres south-east of its junction with Main Street,

( g ) a point on National Road N23 745 metres south-west of its junction with Main Street,

and from the last mentioned point in a straight line to the commencement point on National Road N21.

19. The following roads at Castlemaine:—

( a ) National Road N70 between a point 380 metres north of its junction with the Ballyfinnane Road and a point 75 metres north of its junction with the Castlemaine- Farranfore road.

( b ) The Ballyfinnane Road for a distance of 225 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

( c ) The Dingle Road for a distance of 183 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

20. The following roads at Causeway:—

( a ) The Ballyheigue-Ballyduff road between a point 366 metres south-west of its junction with the Sea Road and a point 298 metres north-east of the said junction.

( b ) The Ardfert Road for a distance of 183 metres from its junction with the Ballyheigue-Ballyduff road.

( c ) The Sea Road for a distance of 412 metres from its junction with the Ballyheigue-Ballyduff road.

21. The following roads at Dingle—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on Strand Road 412 metres south-east of Milltown Cross and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

( a ) the southern terminal point of the Coastguard Station Road,

( b ) a point on the Killnaglearagh Road 365 metres south-east of its junction with the Coastguard Station Road,

( c ) the southern terminal point of John Street,

( d ) a point on the Old Connor Hill Road 295 metres north-east of its junction with Spa Road,

( e ) a point on Spa Road 660 metres north-east of its junction with Main Street,

( f ) the northern terminal point of Chapel Lane,

( g ) a point on Goat Street 23 metres south-east of Workhouse Cross,

and from the last mentioned point in a straight line to the commencement point on Strand Road.

22. The following roads at Duagh:—

( a ) The Cemetery Road.

( b ) The Listowel-Abbeyfeale road between a point 252 metres north-west of its junction with the Lisroe Road and a point 674 metres south-east of the said junction.

( c ) The Lisroe Road for a distance of 94 metres from its junction with the Listowel-Abbeyfeale road.

23. The following roads at Farranfore:—

( a ) National Road N22 between a point 135 metres north-west of the railway level crossing and a point 875 metres south-east of its junction with National Road N23.

( b ) The Fieries Road for a distance of 180 metres from its junction with National Road N22.

( c ) The Currow Road for a distance of 110 metres from its junction with National Road N22.

( d ) National Road N23 for a distance of 90 metres from its junction with the National Road N22.

24. The following roads at Fenit:—

( a ) The Tralee Road between the Harbour and a point 760 metres east of its junction with the Tawlaght Road.

( b ) The Tawlaght Road between its junction with the Tralee Road and a point 300 metres north of the centre line of the railway bridge.

( c ) The road from Fenit Island to its junction with the Tralee-Fenit road.

25. The following roads at Fieries:—

( a ) The Milltown-Farranfore road between a point 175 metres south-east of its junction with Ballyfinnane Road and a point 55 metres east of its junction with the Fieries Chapel Road.

( b ) The Ballyfinnane Road for a distance of 305 metres from its junction with the Milltown-Farranfore road.

( c ) The road connecting the Ballyfinnane Road with the Milltown-Farranfore road.

( d ) The Molahiffe Road for a distance of 405 metres from its junction with the Milltown-Farranfore road.

( e ) The Fieries Chapel Road for a distance of 90 metres from its junction with the Milltown-Farranfore road.

26. The following roads at Finuge:—

( a ) The Lixnaw-Coolnaleen road between a point 205 metres north-east of its junction with the Dromclough-Finuge Bridge road and a point 135 metres south-west of the said junction.

( b ) The Dromclough-Finuge Bridge road between a point 110 metres south-east of its junction with the Lixnaw-Coolnaleen road and a point 100 metres north-west of the said junction.

27. The following roads at Fossa:—

( a ) The Killarney-Killorglin road between a point 150 metres east of its junction with the Milltown Road and a point 115 metres east of its junction with the Dunloe Road.

( b ) The Milltown Road for a distance of 60 metres from its junction with the Killarney-Killorglin road.

28. The following roads at Glenbeigh:—

( a ) National Road N70 between a point 750 metres north-east of its junction with the Station Road and a point 115 metres south-west of its junction with the Rossbeigh Road.

( b ) The Station Road for a distance of 230 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

( c ) The Rossbeigh Road for a distance of 120 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

( d ) The Coomasaharn Road for a distance of 138 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

29. The following roads at Gneeveguilla:—

( a ) The Quarry Cross-Rathmore road between a point 525 metres north of its junction with the Bawnard Road and a point 65 metres south of the said junction.

( b ) The Maughantoorig-Bawnard road between a point 20 metres west of its junction with the Quarry Cross-Rathmore road and a point 155 metres east of the said junction.

30. The following roads at Kenmare:—

All roads in the area enclosed by a line commencing at a point on National Road N71 295 metres south-east of its junction with the Pier Road and drawn thence in straight lines successively to the following points:—

(a) a point on the Kilgarvan Road 195 metres north-east of its junction with Main Street,

(b) a point on the Hospital Road 357 metres north-east of its junction with the Square,

(c) a point on National Road N71 275 metres north-west of its junction with the Square,

(d) a point on the Tubbrid Road 147 metres south-west of its junction with National Road N71,

and from the last mentioned point in a straight line to the commencement point on National Road N71.

31. The following roads at Kilgarvan:—

(a) The Kenmare-Cork road between a point 460 metres west of its junction with the Old Bantry Road and a point 410 metres south-west of its junction with the Forge Road.

(b) The Old Bantry Road for a distance of 375 metres from its junction with the Kenmare-Cork road.

(c) The Meelick Road for a distance of 440 metres from its junction with the Kenmare-Cork road.

32. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Killarney:—

(a) The Spa Road for a distance of 348 metres from its junction with National Road N22.

(b) National Road N22 for a distance of 170 metres north-westwards from the point where the boundary of the urban district of Killarney intersects the south-western side of the road.

(c) St. Margaret's Road between the point where the boundary of the urban district of Killarney intersects the northern side of the road and its junction with the Port Road.

(d) The Port Road and its continuation as the Killorglin Road between the boundary of the urban district of Killarney and a point 65 metres west of the centre line of Ballydowney Bridge.

(e) National Road N71 between the boundary of the urban district of Killarney and a point 100 metres south-east of its junction with the Convent Road.

(f) The Convent Road for a distance of 30 metres from its junction with National Road N71.

(g) The Mill Road for a distance of 20 metres from its junction with National Road N71.

33. The following roads at Killorglin:—

(a) Market Street, Hill Road, Convent Road.

(b) National Road N70 between a point 366 metres north-east of its junction with the Killarney Road and a point 183 metres north-east of its junction with the Cromane Road.

(c) The Killarney Road for a distance of 92 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

(d) The County Council housing estate roads at Drumavally.

(e) The Glencar Road for a distance of 183 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

(f) Langford Street and its continuation as the Caragh Lake Road for a distance of 1,000 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

(g) The Sunhill Road for a distance of 531 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

(h) The Ballykissane Road between its junction with National Road N70 and a point 32 metres north of its junction with the Hill Road.

(i) The Ardmoniel Road for a distance of 275 metres south-east of its junction with the Caragh Lake Road.

34. The following roads at Knockanure:—

(a) The Moyvane-Listowel road between a point 105 metres north of its junction with the Old School Road and a point 210 metres south of the said junction.

(b) The Old School Road for a distance of 140 metres from its junction with the Moyvane-Listowel road.

35. The following roads at Lispole:—

(a) The Tralee-Dingle road between a point 1,330 metres east of its junction with the Boherbrack Road and a point 250 metres west of the said junction.

(b) The Lispole-Garrynadur high road for a distance of 380 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Dingle road (at Lispole Bridge).

(c) The Boherbrack Road for a distance of 20 metres from its junction with the Tralee-Dingle road.

36. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Listowel:—

(a) National Road N69 for a distance of 350 metres eastwards from the boundary of the urban district of Listowel.

(b) The Duagh Road for a distance of 90 metres from the boundary of the urban district of Listowel.

(c) The Ballylongford Road for a distance of 230 metres from the boundary of the urban district of Listowel.

37. The following roads in and adjacent to Lixnaw:—

(a) The Abbeydorney-Listowel road between a point 137 metres south of its junction with the Lixnaw Road and a point 92 metres north-east of the said junction.

(b) The Lixnaw Road between its junction with the Abbeydorney-Listowel road and a point 1,145 metres north-west of the said junction.

(c) Ballynagare Road for a distance of 30 metres from its junction with the Lixnaw Road.

38. The following roads at Milltown:—

(a) Kilcolman Square, Main Street, Mart Lane, Spout Lane, Miles Lane, The Square.

(b) National Road N70 between a point 46 metres north of its junction with Miles Lane and a point 260 metres south-west of its junction with the Ballyvirrane Road.

(c) Old Chapel Lane between its junction with Main Street and a point 55 metres north-east of its junction with Miles Lane.

(d) Church Street and its continuation as the Killarney Road for a distance of 600 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

39. The following roads at Moyvane:—

(a) The Listowel Road for a distance of 285 metres from its junction with the Tarbert-Knockanure road.

(b) The Glin Road for a distance of 365 metres from its junction with the Tarbert-Knockanure road.

(c) The Tarbert-Knockanure road between a point 30 metres north of its junction with the Ballylongford Road and a point 805 metres south of its junction with the Listowel Road.

(d) The Ballylongford Road for a distance of 55 metres from its junction with the Tarbert-Knockanure road.

40. The following roads at Rathmore:—

(a) Ard Mhuire, Station Road.

(b) National Road N72 between a point 450 metres north-west of its junction with the Station Road and a point 320 metres north-east of its junction with the Hollymount Road.

(c) The Mill or Bog Road for a distance of 46 metres from its junction with National Road N72.

(d) National Road N72 between a point 20 metres north-east of its junction with the Rathbeg Road and a point 37 metres south-west of its junction with the Gneeveguilla Road.

(e) The Cloonts Road between its junction with National Road N72 and a point 20 metres north-west of its junction with Station Road.

(f) The Millstreet Road for a distance of 92 metres from its junction with National Road N72.

(g) The Hollymount Road for a distance of 10 metres from its junction with National Road N72.

(h) The Kingwilliamstown Road for a distance of 10 metres from its junction with the Cloonts Road.

(c) The Ballylongford (Upper) Road from its junction with National Road N69 to a point 450 metres from its junction with the Ballylongford (Lower) Road.

(d) The Ballylongford (Lower) Road for a distance of 680 metres from its junction with the Ballylongford (Upper) Road.

44. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Tralee:—

(a) National Road N70 between the boundary of the urban district of Tralee and a point 120 metres south of its junction with the Blennerville-Farmersbridge road.

(b) The Cloghers Road for a distance of 70 metres south-westwards from the point where the boundary of the urban district of Tralee intersects the eastern side of the road.

(c) National Road N21 between the point where the boundary of the urban district of Tralee intersects the north-eastern side of the road and a point 310 metres south-east of its junction with the Killerisk Road.

(d) The Blennerville-Farmersbridge road between a point 50 metres west of its junction with National Road N70 and a point 175 metres east of the said junction.

(e) The Ballinorig Road for a distance of 1,005 metres from the point where the boundary of the urban district of Tralee intersects the eastern side of the road.

(f) The Oakpark Road between a point 60 metres south-west of Forge Cross and the point where the boundary of the urban district of Tralee intersects the north-western side of the road.

(b) National Road N70 between a point 156 metres north-west of its junction with the Cliff Road and 775 metres south of its junction with Spunkane Road.

(c) The Cliff Road for a distance of 65 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

(d) The Spunkane Road for a distance of 920 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

(e) The Beenbane Road for a distance of 275 metres from its junction with National Road N70.

THIRD SCHEDULE

Roads in respect of which a special speed limit of 40 miles per hour is prescribed.

1. The following road at Castleisland:—

The Ballydesmond Road between a point 815 metres south-east of its junction with Main Street and a point 855 metres south-east of the said junction.

2. The following roads at Kenmare:—

(a) National Road N71 between a point 275 metres north-west of its junction with the Square and a point 570 metres north-west of its junction with National Road N70.

(b) National Road N70 for a distance of 195 metres from its junction with National Road N71.

(c) The Kilgarvan Road between a point 195 metres from its junction with Main Street and a point 820 metres south-west of its junction with the Gortagass-Gortalinny road.

3. The following road in the Urban District of Killarney:—

Ross Road for a distance of 366 metres from its junction with National Road N71.

4. The following road at Lispole:—

The Tralee-Dingle road between a point 15 metres west of its junction with the Fogheragh Road and a point 280 metres west of that junction.

(a) The Ballybunion-Listowel road between a point 175 metres north-west of its junction with Ballyduff Road and a point 370 metres south-east of the said junction.

(b) The Ballyduff Road for a distance of 260 metres from its junction with the Ballybunion-Listowel road.

(c) The Ballyegan Road for a distance of 95 metres from its junction with Ballybunion-Listowel road.

(d) The Ballydonoghue Church Road for a distance of 240 metres from its junction with the Ballybunion-Listowel road.

(e) Basin Road for a distance of 110 metres from its junction with the Dingle Road.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations replace the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 145 of 1977 ) and the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 77 of 1983 ) and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in this area.

The Regulations exclude the public roads mentioned in the First Schedule from the scope of the built-up area speed limit prescribed by Section 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 and declare the public roads mentioned in the Second Schedule to be subject to that limit.

The Regulations also prescribe a speed limit of 40 miles per hour in respect of the public roads mentioned in the Third Schedule.

Ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and Garda Síochána vehicles while being used in the course of duty are excepted from all speed limits by the Regulations.
