FOREIGN PARCEL POST AMENDMENT (NO. 18) WARRANT, 1983.

I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 and 6 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 , (No. 18 of 1969), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows:—

1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Foreign Parcel Post Amendment (No. 18) Warrant, 1983.

(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 22nd day of August, 1983.

2. In this Warrant—

"surface airlifted parcel" has the meaning assigned to it by Regulation 3;

"the Warrant of 1953" means the Foreign Parcel Post Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 418 of 1953 ).

3. This Warrant applies to any outgoing airmail parcel within the meaning of the Warrant of 1953 to which, by virtue of an arrangement made between the Minister and the sender thereof, it is agreed between the Minister and such sender that this Warrant shall apply, and any such parcel is in this Warrant referred to as a "surface airlifted parcel".

4. Regulation 8 (2) of the Warrant of 1953 shall, in relation to a surface airlifted parcel, be construed and have effect as if the reference therein to the maximum postage specified in the Second Schedule to that Warrant were a reference to the maximum postage specified in the Schedule to this Warrant.

5. Regulation 33 (1) of the Warrant of 1953 shall not apply to a surface airlifted parcel.

SCHEDULE.

MAXIMUM POSTAGE.

Surface Airlifted Parcel.

£3.75 for a parcel not exceeding 1 kilogramme in weight together with £0.80 for each 500 grammes or fraction of 500 grammes in excess of 1 kilogramme.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant applies to outgoing Airmail Parcels in respect of which an arrangement has been made between the Minister or any officer of the Post Office whereby such parcels shall be conveyed by an airmail service through such part of their course in the post as may be agreed between the Minister and the sender thereof. The appropriate postage as prescribed shall be paid in respect of each parcel to which this Warrant applies.
