TOWNS IMPROVEMENT (IRELAND) ACT, 1854 (GREYSTONES) ORDER, 1983.

WHEREAS in pursuance of an Order of the Minister for the Environment (hereinafter called "the Minister") dated the 21st day of April, 1983, a meeting was held on the 19th day of May, 1983 of the local government electors registered in respect of qualifications in the area comprised within the boundaries specified and approved in the said Order, which area is hereinafter referred to as the "town of Greystones":

AND WHEREAS a resolution was passed at the said meeting by the said local government electors in favour of adopting and carrying into execution within the town of Greystones the whole of the Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act, 1854, hereinafter called "the Act of 1854":

AND WHEREAS the resolution and determination of the said meeting have been duly certified to the Minister:

NOW THEREFORE the Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 15 of the Act of 1854, by this Order declares and gives notice as follows:—

1. The adoption of the whole of the Act of 1854 in and for the town of Greystones is hereby approved.

2. On and from the 1st day of January, 1984, the whole of the Act of 1854 shall apply to and be in force within the town of Greystones.

3. This Order may be cited as the Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act, 1854 (Greystones) Order, 1983.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order approves of the adoption of the Towns Improvement (Ireland) Act, 1854 by the local government electors of Greystones and brings the Act into operation in Greystones, thereby establishing it as a town with town commissioners, from 1st January, 1984.
