EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (MEASUREMENT OF ALCOHOLIC STRENGTH) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983.

I, FRANK CLUSKEY, Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive No. 82/624/EEC of 1 July, 19821, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Measurement of Alcoholic Strength) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983.

2. The European Communities (Measurement of Alcoholic Strength) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 187 of 1979 ), are hereby amended by the substitution in Regulation 2 of the following paragraph for paragraph (1):

"(1) In these Regulations 'the Council Directive' means Council Directive No. 76/765/EEC of 27 July, 19762as amended by Commission Directive No. 82/624/EEC of 1 July, 1982."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations were made to give effect as far as necessary to Commission Directive No. 82/624/EEC adapting to technical progress Council Directive No. 76/765 on the approximation of the laws of Member States relating to alcoholmeters and alcohol hydrometers.
