BOVINE TUBERCULOSIS (ATTESTATION OF THE STATE AND GENERAL PROVISIONS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1982

I, Brian Lenihan, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 13 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), as adapted by the Agriculture and Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 31 of 1977 ), hereby order as follows:—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General Provisions) (Amendment) Order, 1982.

(2) The Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General Provisions) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 256 of 1978 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General Provisions) Orders, 1978 and 1982.

(3) This Order shall come into operation on the 21st day of June 1982.

2. Article 17 of the Bovine Tuberculosis (Attestation of the State and General Provisions) Order, 1978, is hereby amended by the addition of the following paragraph:

"(4) An animal which is six weeks of age or under may not be moved into or out of a holding or other land unless—

( a ) it bears an approved ear-tag and is accompanied by an identity card issued by the Minister in respect of that animal, or

( b ) it is moved to a place which, for the purpose of these Regulations, for the time being stands designated by the Minister as an ear-tagging centre".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order prohibits the movement of calves six weeks of age or under into or out of a holding unless they are tagged and are accompanied by an identity card issued by the Minister or unless they are being moved to a designated tagging centre.
