REGULATIONS entitled WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY (EXPERIMENTER'S LICENCE)(AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1980.

I, MARK KILLILEA, Minister of State at the Department of Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 (1) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1926 (No. 45 of 1926), and the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1980 (S.I. No. 20 of 1980), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence ) (Amendment) Regulations, 1980.

(2) The Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 (S.R. & O., No. 330 of 1937), the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) (No. 1) Regulations, 1951, ( S.I. No. 232 of 1951 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1980

(3) These Regulations shall come into effect on the 1st day of July, 1980.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. Regulation 11 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937, is hereby amended by—

( a ) the substitution in paragraph (1) of "four pounds" and "three pounds" for "three pounds" and "two pounds", respectively, and

( b ) the substitution of "one pound" for "five shillings" in paragraph (2), and the said paragraphs (1) and (2), as so amended, are set out in paragraphs 1 and 2 respectively, of the Table to this Regulation.

TABLE.

1. A fee of four pounds shall be payable on the issue of an experimenter's licence and a fee of three pounds shall be payable on every renewal thereof.

2. Where an applicant for an experimenter's licence submits himself at the request of the Minister to a test of his operating speed held by or on behalf of the Minister, a fee of one pound shall be paid by such applicant at or before the commencement of such test.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to provide for an increase in the fees payable under the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 and the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) (No. 1) Regulations, 1951 as follows:

( a ) "Annual" Licences

(i) Fee payable on issue

from £3 to £4

(ii) Fee payable on renewal

from £2 to £3

( b ) Examination fee

from five shillings to £1.
