ROAD TRANSPORT (INTERNATIONAL CARRIAGE OF GOODS BY ROAD) ORDER, 1980

I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 8 (2) of the Road Transport Act, 1971 (No. 8 of 1971) (inserted by section 4 of the Road Transport Act, 1978 (No. 8 of 1978)), and the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1980 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Road Transport (International Carriage of Goods by Road) Order, 1980.

2. A permit issued by the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom or by the Department of the Environment (Northern Ireland) under the agreement made on the 9th day of April, 1980, between the Government and the Government of the United Kingdom on the international carriage of goods by road (being an international agreement relating to international transport by road) shall be deemed to be a restricted road freight licence.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Instrument is to declare that permits issued to authorised carriers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland by the competent authorities in the United Kingdom under the Road Transport Agreement between the Government and the Government of the United Kingdom dated 9th April, 1980 shall be deemed to be restricted road freight licences.
