RETURNING OFFICERS' CHARGES (EUROPEAN ASSEMBLY AND LOCAL ELECTIONS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1979.

I, SEOIRSE Ó COLLA, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 91 of the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963), as amended by section 21 (1) of the European Assembly Elections Act, 1977 (No. 30 of 1977), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Returning Officers' Charges (European Assembly and Local Elections) (Amendment) Order, 1979.

2. The Returning Officers' Charges (European Assembly and Local Elections) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 163 of 1979 ), is hereby amended—

( a ) by the insertion in paragraph 7 of the First Schedule of the following subparagraph:

"An additional sum of £12 shall be paid to each competent person who was appointed to assist the returning officer in the count and was employed on the said count for not less than four hours on the 12th day of June, 1979," and

( b ) by the insertion in paragraph 14 of the said Schedule of the following subparagraph:.

" ( c ) Subsistence expenses of persons remunerated in accordance with paragraph 7. Civil service class C rates in respect of each absence from home overnight necessarily incurred in connection with the election.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends the Returning Officers' Charges (European Assembly and Local Elections) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 163 of 1979 ) which laid down the scale of maximum charges for returning officers and local returning officers in respect of joint elections to the European Assembly and local elections.
