FOOD STANDARDS (POTATOES) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1978.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Food Standards Act, 1974 (No. 11 of 1974) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 31 of 1977 )) and after consultation with the Minister for Health and the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy and such organisations as appear to me to be interested to a substantial extent in the subject matter, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Food Standards (Potatoes) (No. 2) Regulations, 1978.

2. Notwithstanding Regulation 5 of the Food Standards (Potatoes) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 367 of 1977 ), a person may sell small potatoes and medium potatoes (within the meaning, in each case, of the said Regulation 5) other than separately from each other if the total quantity of potatoes comprised in the sale is not less than 25 kilogrammes.

3. Regulation 7 of the said Regulations is hereby amended by the insertion after "large potatoes" of "or a mixture of small potatoes and medium potatoes."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide that small potatoes (40-60 millimetres) and medium potatoes (60-80 millimetres) may be sold mixed if the total quantity comprised in the sale is not less than 25 kilogrammes, and they must be described accordingly on containers.
