HOUSING ACT, 1969 (CONTINUANCE) ORDER, 1977.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 13 of the Housing Act, 1969 (No. 16 of 1969) hereby makes the following Order the draft of which has been approved by a resolution passed by each House of the Oireachtas:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Housing Act, 1969 (Continuance) Order, 1977.

2. The Housing Act, 1969 (other than section 11 and subsections (1) and (2) of section 13) shall continue in force until 31st December, 1979.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order continues in force the Housing Act, 1969 for two years ending 31st December, 1979. The purpose of the 1969 Act is to reduce the loss of habitable houses by controlling the demolition or change of use of such houses. The Act is a temporary measure due to expire on 31st December, 1977, unless continued by an Order made by the Minister after it has been approved by resolution by each House of the Oireachtas.
