ROAD TRAFFIC (COMPULSORY INSURANCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1977.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5, paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 62 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Compulsory Insurance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1977.

(2) These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Compulsory Insurance) Regulations, 1962 and 1964, shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Compulsory Insurance) Regulations, 1962 to 1977.

2. The First Schedule to the Road Traffic (Compulsory Insurance) Regulations, 1962 ( S.I. No. 14 of 1962 ) as amended by the Road Traffic (Compulsory Insurance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1964 ( S.I. No. 58 of 1964 ), is hereby amended by the insertion in paragraph (2) after sub-paragraph (g) of the following sub-paragraph:—

"(h) by specifying the maximum or minimum ages of the persons to be so covered."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the existing Regulations under the Road Traffic Acts relating to the compulsory insurance of motor vehicles by providing that a motor insurance policy may limit cover to persons within a particular age group.
