PROTECTION OF YOUNG PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) (EXCLUSION OF CLOSE RELATIVES) REGULATIONS, 1977.

I, GENE FITZGERALD, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 17 (1) of the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 (No. 9 of 1977), and having complied with the provisions of subsections (2) and (3) of that Section, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) (Exclusion of Close Relatives) Regulations, 1977.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 30th day of September, 1977.

2. In these Regulations "close relative" means a person who is—

( a ) employed by his spouse, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, step-father, step-mother, brother, sister, half-brother or half-sister, and

( b ) employed in a private dwelling house or on a farm, in or on which both the employee and the employer reside.

3. Subject to the modification contained in Regulation 4 of these Regulations, the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 (No. 9 of 1977), shall apply to close relatives.

4. None of the provisions contained in section 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 , 9 , 10 or 11 of the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 , shall apply to the employment of close relatives.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations modify certain provisions of the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1977 in regard to their application to close relatives.
