CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA NO. 51) (MISCELLANEOUS TEXTILES) (AMENDMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1977.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934) hereby make the following Order :

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 51) (Miscellaneous Textiles) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1977.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. In this Order "the Order of 1964" means the Control of Imports (Quota No. 51) (Miscellaneous Textiles) Order, 1964 ( S.I. No. 297 of 1964 ).

4. (1) The prohibition effected by the Order of 1964 in respect of the importation of sacks and bags of a kind used for the packing of goods, of wool, cotton and man-made fibres which are—

( a ) classified at tariff heading number 6203-ex-561, 6203-623, 6203-631, 6203-637 and 6203-ex-649 in the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs and Excise Duties and Form of Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 ), and

( b ) are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Pakistan or Yugoslavia,

shall cease to have effect.

(2) This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1977.

5. (1) The prohibition effected by the Order of 1964 in respect of the importation of goods which are—

( a ) specified at a tariff heading number in column (1) of the Schedule to this Order or at a tariff code number specified in column (2) of that Schedule,

( b ) of a description specified in column (3) of that Schedule opposite the mention in column (1) or column (2), as the case may be, of a tariff heading number or a tariff code number and

( c ) shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in Romania,

shall cease to have effect.

(2) This Article shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 5th day of April, 1977 and shall cease to have effect on the 31st day of December, 1977.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to remove from the scope of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 51) (Miscellaneous Textiles) Order, 1964:

( a ) certain textile yarns, apparel and make-up textiles originating in Romania with effect from 5 April, 1977 and until 31 December, 1977,

( b ) sacks and bags of wool, cotton and man-made fibres of a kind used for the packing of goods originating in Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Pakistan and Yugoslavia with effect from 1 April, 1977.
