EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (MISCELLANEOUS TEXTILE PIECE GOODS) REGULATIONS, 1977.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) Regulations 1977, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1977.

2. In these Regulations "the Order of 1964" means the Control of Imports (Quota No. 52) (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) Order, 1964 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1964 ).

3. The prohibition effected in respect of the importation of certain goods by the Order of 1964 shall not extend or apply to goods which are—

( a ) specified at a tariff heading number in column (1) of the First Schedule to these Regulations or at a tariff code number specified in column (2) of that Schedule,

( b ) of a description specified in column (3) of that Schedule opposite the mention in column (1) or column (2), as the case may be, of a tariff heading number or a tariff code number,

( c ) shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, China, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, U.S.S.R., Albania, Mongolia, North Korea or Vietnam.

4. The prohibition effected in respect of the importation of certain goods by the Order of 1964 shall not extend or apply to goods which are :

( a ) specified at a tariff heading number in column (1) of the Second Schedule to these Regulations or at a tariff code number specified in column (2) of that Schedule.

( b ) of a description specified in column (3) of that Schedule opposite the mention in column (1) or column (2), as the case may be, of a tariff heading number or a tariff code number,

( c ) shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in, or to have original in Taiwan.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to remove from the scope of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 52) (Miscellaneous Textile Piece Goods) Order, 1964, with effect from 1 July, 1977:—

( a ) certain textile fabrics originating in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, China, East Germany, Hungry, Poland, Romania, U.S.S.R., Albania, Mongolia, North Korea and Vietnam.

( b ) certain textile fabrics originating in Taiwan.
