MAXIMUM PRICES (FLOUR) (No. 2) ORDER, 1976.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), and the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Flour) (No. 2) Order, 1976.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 14th day of July, 1976.

3. (1) The maximum price at which a commodity specified in column (2) of the Table to this Article, at any reference number, may be sold by retail is hereby fixed at the price specified in column (3) of the said Table opposite the mention of the commodity in the said column (2).

(2) When a commodity specified in column (2) of the Table to this Article at any reference number is sold by retail in a manner other than that specified in column (3) of the said Table opposite the mention of the commodity in the said column (2), the maximum price at which it may be so sold shall be calculated by reference to a rate corresponding to the rate specified in the said column (3) opposite the mention of the commodity in the said column (2).

4. A commodity specified in the Table to Article 3 of this Order shall, when sold by retail, be sold only—

( a ) in a packet containing not more than 6 kilograms of the commodity,

( b ) in a bag made of cotton and containing more than 6 kilograms of the commodity, or

( c ) in a bag made of material other than cotton, containing more than 6 kilograms of the commodity and having the word "SUBSIDISED" indelibly marked on the outside of the bag in such a position and in letters of such size as to be easily visible and legible when the bag is filled.

5. A commodity specified in the Table to Article 3 of this Order that has been packed in a packet or bag of a kind specified in Article 4 of this Order shall not be used in the manufacture or preparation of a product in the course of business.

6. The Maximum Prices (Flour) Order, 1976 ( S.I. No. 22 of 1976 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order fixes the maximum retail prices which may be charged for flour and wheatenmeal, wheatmeal or wholemeal, including self-raising flour, white soda-bread mix and brown bread mix, specifies the types of packets and bags in which these commodities may be sold by retail and prohibits the use, in the manufacture or preparation of a product in the course of business, of any of these commodities packed in the manner specified in the Order.
