REDUNDANCY CONTRIBUTIONS (VARIATION OF RATES) ORDER, 1976.

I, MICHAEL O'LEARY, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 28 of the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 (No. 21 of 1967), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Redundancy Contributions (Variation of Rates) Order, 1976.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 5th day of April, 1976.

3. In this Order "the Order of 1975" means the Redundancy Contributions (Variation of Rates) Order, 1975 ( S.I. No. 65 of 1975 ).

4. The weekly rates of redundancy contribution specified in section 28 of the Redundancy Payments Act, 1967 (No. 21 of 1967), are hereby varied by—

( a ) the insertion in subsection (1) of "twenty-five new pence" for "thirteen new pence" (inserted by the Order of 1975).

( b ) the insertion in subsection (2) of "thirteen new pence" for "five new pence" (inserted by the Order of 1975), and

( c ) the insertion in subsection (2) of "twelve new pence" for "four new pence" (inserted by the Order of 1975),

and those subsections, as so varied, are set out in the Table to this Order.

TABLE

(1) An employer's redundancy contribution shall be at the rate of twenty-five new pence per contribution week in respect of each eligible male employee and twenty-five new pence per contribution week in respect of each eligible female employee.

(2) An employee's redundancy contribution shall be at the rate of thirteen new pence per contribution week for an eligible male employee and twelve new pence per contribution week for an eligible female employee.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for an increase of twenty pence in the rates of redundancy contributions with effect from 5th April, 1976. The increase is apportioned as follows: twelve pence on employers and eight pence on employees.

From that date the weekly rate of redundancy contributions will be as set out in the Table to the Order.
