MAXIMUM PRICES (BUTTER) ORDER, 1976.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), and the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Butter) Order, 1976.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 22nd day of March, 1976.

3. The maximum prices at which butter ( other than butter in ½ lb. foil wrapped packs containing no salt and marked as such by the manufacturer), whether foil wrapped or parchment wrapped, may be sold by retail shall be—

( a ) in the case of butter in parchment wrapped packs, prices calculated at the rate of 48p per lb.,

( b ) in the case of butter in 1 lb. foil wrapped packs, 48½p per 1 lb.,

( c ) in the case of butter in ½ lb. foil wrapped packs—

(i) if one pack only is comprised in the transaction, 24½p per ½ lb.,

(ii) if more than one pack is comprised in the transaction, 24½p per ½ lb. in the case of one of the packs and 24p per ½ lb. in the case of each of the other packs,

( d ) in any other cases, prices calculated at the rate of 48p per lb.

4. The Maximum Prices (Butter) (No. 4) Order, 1975 ( S.I. No. 265 of 1975 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the maximum retail prices which may be charged for butter and revokes the Maximum Prices (Butter) (No. 4) Order, 1975.
