QUARRIES (EXPLOSIVES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1976.

I, MICHAEL O'LEARY, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 96 (1) (b) and 127 of the Mines and Quarries Act, 1965 (No. 7 of 1965), and the Labour (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1966 ), and after due compliance with the provisions of that Act relating to the procedure for making general regulations, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (i) These Regulations may be cited as the Quarries (Explosives) (Amendment) Regulations, 1976.

(ii) The Quarries (Explosives) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 237 of 1971 ), and these Regulations may be cited together as the Quarries (Explosives) Regulations, 1971 and 1976.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1976.

3. Paragraph (5) of Regulation 20 of the Quarries (Explosives) Regulations, 1971 is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations revoke Regulation 20 (5) of the Quarries (Explosives) Regulations, 1971, which states that no round of shots shall be fired in a quarry by parallel, series-parallel or parallel-series methods.
