EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (TEXTILES) REGULATIONS, 1975.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Textiles) Regulations, 1975.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1976.

2. The prohibition on the importation of certain goods effected by paragraph 4 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 51) (Miscellaneous Textiles) Order, 1964 ( S.I. No. 297 of 1964 ), shall not extend or apply to goods which—

( a ) are specified at tariff heading numbers 54.03 and 54.04 in the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs and Excise Duties and Form of Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 ), and

( b ) are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to have been manufactured in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, People's Republic of China, Poland, Roumania or U.S.S.R.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of these Regulations is to remove from the scope of the:—

Control of Imports (Quota No. 51) (Miscellaneous Textiles) Order, 1964, the goods Flax or Ramie Yarn, specified at Tarriff Headings 54.03 and 54.04 and which are manufactured in Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, People's Republic of China, Poland, Roumania or U.S.S.R.
