MAXIMUM PRICES (SUGAR) ORDER, 1975.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965)) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), and the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1973 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Maximum Prices (Sugar) Order, 1975.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 26th day of March 1975.

3. The maximum prices at which granulated white sugar may be sold by retail shall be—

( a ) in the case of a package containing 1 lb. of such sugar, 12p;

( b ) in the case of a package containing 2 lbs. of such sugar, 23½p;

( c ) in the case of a package containing more than 2 lbs. of such sugar, a price calculated at the rate of 23½p per 2 lbs.

4.The Maximum Prices (Sugar) (No. 2) Order, 1974 ( S.I. No. 343 of 1974 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the maximum retail prices which may be charged for granulated white sugar.
