ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF WICKLOW) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations—

1. ( a ) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Wicklow) (Amendment) Regulations, 1974.

( b ) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Wicklow) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1968 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Wicklow) Regulations, 1968 and 1974.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 9th day of September, 1974.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Wicklow) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1968 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the substitution at reference 1 (b) of "350" for "70",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 1 (c) of "700" for "955",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 1 (d) of "670" for "1020"

(iv) by the substitution at reference 2 (b) of "420 yards north of its junction with Killarney Lane" for "40 yards south-west of its junction with King Edward Road".

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following references—

"12. The following roads at Dunlavin:—

( a ) Main Street, Fair Green, Stephen Street, Market Square, Church Terrace.

( b ) Kilcullen Street between its junction with Market Square and a point 40 yards south-west of its junction with Lugnatrina.

( c ) Church Road between its junction with Stephen Street and a point 25 yards north-east of its junction with the Milltown Road.

( d ) Sparrow Road for a distance of 220 yards from its junction with Stephen Street.

( e ) The Baltinglass Road for a distance of 325 yards from its junction with Stephen Street.

13. The following roads at Rathdrum:—

( a ) Gilbert Row, Sunny Terrace, Back Lane, Brewery Lane.

( b ) Main Street and its continuation as Lower Main Street between a point 25 yards north-west of its junction with the Rathnew-Avoca road and a point 80 yards north of its junction with the Glendalough Road.

( c ) The Glendalough Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with Main Street.

( d ) Fair Green between its junction with Gilbert Row and a point 20 yards east of its junction with the Greenane Road.

14. The following roads at Rathnew:—

( a ) The Newtownmountkennedy-Rathdrum road between a point 360 yards north-west of its junction with the Wicklow Road and a point 50 yards south-west of its junction with the Arklow Road.

( b ) The Arklow Road for a distance of 420 yards from its junction with the Newtownmountkennedy-Rathdrum road.

( c ) The Wicklow Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Newtownmountkennedy-Rathdrum road."

6. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended as follows—

(i) by the substitution at reference 4 (d) of "1600" for "1500",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 6 (a) of "230" for "90",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 6 (c) of "220" for "140",

(iv) by the substitution at reference 11 (c) of "400" for "300".

7. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following reference—

"6. The following roads at Kilmacanogue:—

( a ) The Dublin-Wexford road between a point 360 yards north-west of its junction with the Rocky Valley Road from its junction with the Dublin-Wexford road."

( b ) The Rocky Valley Road for a distance of 315 yards from its junction with the Dublin-Wexford road."

8. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended as follows—

(i) by the deletion of the matter at reference 1(d).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Wicklow) Regulations, 1968, and alter speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Wicklow.
