LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1955 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 1955 (Commencement) Order, 1974.

2. Paragraph (1) of Section 14 of the Local Government Act, 1955 shall come into operation on 1st April, 1974.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order brings into effect paragraph (1) of section 14 of the Local Government Act, 1955 which extends the power of the appropriate Minister to make general regulations under section 19 of the Local Government Act, 1941 in relation to offices and their holders under local authorities within the meaning of Part II of that Act.
